Weekly Update #14 - Classes & Unlockables


We have a huge update this week bringing in 3 new revamped classes, with new original art, new abilities and backstory/lore. These characters should bring a new dynamic to the game rather than simple stat changes, as they each have not only a unique passive and active ability but also various passive stats such as parry, dodge and counter. Additionally, I've included a new unlockables system accessible through the Vagabond Shop on the Main Menu. This will allow you to purchase unlockables permanently by spending currency that you  earn in your runs; Innocence for "good" event decisions, Chaos for "bad" event decisions and Spark for neutral decisions or from bosses and elite enemies.

As quite a lot was added over this week of development, I wasn't able to put many descriptions of what things do just yet, so I'll be putting them here temporarily until I can add some QoL next week. Enjoy!

  • NEW CLASSES classes have been revamped. The new classes are Nihilo, Nimble and Ingram, which I will describe below. Each class now has a special 5th slot for their specified unique active ability.


    • NIHILO is a mysterious knight who is adept at killing. He uses a skull-like helmet with no visor and reduced vision - giving him the nickname of the faceless knight.
      • PASSIVE:15% Counter (Counter will activate after damage is received from an attack in battle, and proceed to perform a standard attack against the attacking enemy)
      • PASSIVE:FURY is gained from each attack, ability or counter-attacked performed. Each stack of fury will raise Nihilo's damage, up to a cap of 5 Fury.
      • ACTIVE:BLOODLUST can be activated when Nihilo has 5 Fury. Using Bloodlust will consume his fury to empower his next attack to do increased damage and heal for a percentage of damage dealt. Activating Bloodlust will not use up a turn.
    • NIMBLE is an experienced Assassin who takes down targets that deserve to feel her wrath. She has a birthmark on her cheek that signifies that she has been blessed by the moon.
      • PASSIVE:5% Parry 10% Avoid (Parry and Avoid will both dodge damage taken from an attack completely. Parry will counter back with a percentage of the attackers attack.)
      • PASSIVE:ASSASSIN'S MARK marks the enemy with the highest power at the start of each battle, reducing their resilience.
      • ACTIVE:EXECUTE empowers the next attack to do significantly more damage, activating a critical strike. Activating Execute will not use up a turn.
    • INGRAM is a Scholar from the eastern lands of Terelia. He is a very wise fighter and uses his spirit familiar, Tenma, to aid him in his journey.
      • PASSIVE: 10% Avoid (Avoid dodges damage taken in battle)
      • PASSIVE: PREPARATION lowers the cooldowns of all of Ingram's abilities by 1 at the start of each battle.
      • ACTIVE: SPIRIT SYNC allows Ingram to call on Tenma's power to temporarily phase out of physical danger, making him immune to damage for 1 turn. This takes up half of Ingram's current health and will not use up a turn.
  • UNLOCKABLES have been added in the new VAGABOND SHOP, accessible through the Main Menu, bringing 3 new necklaces and a new dungeon card, the blacksmith, to be unlocked. These can be unlocked with the new currency that you will accumulate on your run through the caves. I'm looking to expand the things you can unlock vastly in the future now that the base system is there, so stay tuned!
  • Cooldowns now don't reset after each battle, but get reduced by 1 every time you move in the dungeon.
  • Gold is now scaled very differently. This should mean you have to be a bit more wise with your gold later on!
  • Damage from player skills has been vastly reduced.
  • Various % stat buffs have been implemented, with each character having a boost to a different stat.
  • Various graphics have been changed and added to signify the new currencies from the caves: Innocence, Spark and Chaos. Sprites will be updated in the future.
  • The rate of apples dropping from regular enemies has been reduced drastically.
  • Changed some text in Spirit Rent event.
  • Changed rewards for one of the options in the Forgotten Fairy event.
  • Fixed bug with End Run not updating hiscores in the Main Menu.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause reckless charge to never activate on two enemies
  • Reckless Charge will now hit all enemies guaranteed when upgrade level +++
  • Berserker Charm has been moved in the skill tree and is now optional.
  • Fixed various bugs that may have caused enemies to dissapear.
